About

Tyler Dotson has served as the city manager of the City of Hudsonville since February 2023. In his day-to-day efforts, Dotson oversees operations for a growing community of 9,000 residents situated between Holland and Grand Rapids. Through the city’s strategic and master plans, he spearheads the city’s efforts to Make Hudsonville a Destination, Improve Infrastructure and City Services, and Address Traffic and Circulation Concerns.”  

In conjunction with the city’s “Hudsonville Has It” campaign, Dotson and his staff are building on the city’s guiding vision to establish a traditional downtown, create mixed-use opportunities, and activate a new civic center with a revamped library/community center. Hudsonville’s “Imagine 2030” plan is well underway, with 300 rental units set to come online by August 2026, and new retail, restaurant, and commercial operations expected to open. 

Before Hudsonville, Dotson served on various city boards and committees, including the board of education in his hometown of South Haven. Additionally, he has served as the city manager in Watervliet and the economic development/DDA director in Blissfield 

Dotson is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science, and Western Michigan University, where he holds a master’s degree in public administration. Dotson is an 18-year veteran wrestling official with the MHSAA, having been chosen to officiate eight state finals.
